Solicitation Number: NNJ22ZSA001L
Release Date: September 19, 2022
Response Due Date: October 31, 2022

NASA invites applications for the SHINE training course focused on the scientific aspects of space radiation but also agency risk management strategies. This course is designed as a virtual training program targeted to graduate students, postdocs, research scientists, early career investigators and potential new investigators to learn about the relevant scientific elements of the Human Research Program (HRP). The 6 month course will include formal didactic lectures covering essential learning material along with more informal interactive coffee hours to facilitate networking with space radiation thought leaders.

The SHINE Application uses the Request for Information (RFI) response structure in the NASA Solicitation and Proposal Integrated Review and Evaluation System (NSPIRES). Responses must be submitted electronically using the NSPIRES web site. SHINE is open to all eligible individuals as outlined in the RFI. For the full text of the SHINE RFI, including application response instructions, visit: https://tinyurl.com/NASA-SHINE22.

Submitting a SHINE application does not guarantee course availability. NASA does not award funding for course participation nor otherwise pay for the information collected. Applicants who are accepted will be notified on or after December 16, 2022. Declined applicants will also be notified. The course will take place virtually from February 2023-August 2023.

Questions regarding SHINE will be accepted by email only and must be addressed to jsc-hrp-space-radiation-element@mail.nasa.gov using a subject line that states “SHINE 2022 Application”. Depending on the nature of received questions, NASA may i) respond on an individual basis by email or ii) may post responses that are intended to address inquiries of broader interest and general clarification in an FAQ document on the NSPIRES website for SHINE.
