SeaWiFS Images Fires on Yucatan Peninsula

This image from the Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-View Sensor (SeaWiFS) shows dense smoke from fires in the Yucatan peninsula on April 24, 2000. In the El Niño year of 1998 fires in the region emitted enough smoke to cause authorities in Texas to issue air quality warnings.
