Amendment 78: New Opportunity: B.7 Heliophysics Low-Cost Access to Space
The Heliophysics Low-Cost Access to Space (H-LCAS) program (B.7 of ROSES) solicits proposals for the development and application of innovative instruments, technologies, and flight investigations that can be accomplished using sounding rockets, high-altitude balloons, and CubeSats. H-LCAS provides pathways to advancing Heliophysics science by supporting the development and maturation of technology and by enabling suborbital science and technology demonstration.
Proposed flight investigations must self-identify as “science” or “science-enabling”
Science investigations must demonstrate that progress can be achieved on the proposed science questions through the investigation objectives, which may include demonstration of a new technology. Science-enabling investigations that primarily demonstrate a new technology must motivate the need for this technology by including specific science questions that the new technology are intended to address in the future.
On or about October 7, 2026, ROSES-2025 Amendment 78 releases B.7 H-LCAS as a new opportunity in ROSES-25. Step-1 proposals are due by November 20, 2026, and Step-2 proposals are due March 16, 2027.
Questions concerning B.7 H-LCAS may be directed to Sabrina Savage and Ennio Sanchez who may be reached at hq-hpd-lcas@mail.nasa.gov
