NASA’s Parker Solar Probe mission is the first spacecraft to “touch” the Sun, making its closest approach to the Sun on Christmas eve 2024. It reached a distance of only 3.8 million miles (6.2 million kilometers) from the solar surface which meant it was well inside the Sun's outer atmosphere, or corona.
What would it be like to be inside the corona? How hot would you be? In this webinar, NASA astronomer Dr. Sten Odenwald explores these and other questions in a series of engaging exercises.
