Project Description:
This three-poster series teaches foundational heliophysics: from solar cycles to space weather, integrated with traditional Navajo ways of knowing, featuring:
- Our Sun in the Universe ↗ | This poster explores the Sun's 11-year solar cycles, magnetic fields, and immense gravity to explain planetary orbits and cosmic evolution.
- Our Sun and Earth ↗ | This poster explores space weather, illustrating how solar wind and magnetic fields create auroras, bridging NASA and Navajo knowledge.
- Sun, Earth, and Life Relationships ↗ | This poster examines how solar radiation drives Earth's climate, weather systems, and the biological processes that sustain life.
This classroom collection includes an educator guide that explores complex space science concepts and astronomical observations with Navajo / Diné wisdom and observations to provide a holistic view of the Sun-Earth system. This poster series is a result of collaborative work between Thunderbird Collaborations LLC, the NASA Heliophysics Education Activation Team (HEAT), and Oregon State University, funded through NASA's SciAct program.
