C.12 FAIMM Correction, Q&A update, and Webinar Materials Available
C.12 Foundational Artificial Intelligence for the Moon and Mars (FAIMM) is intended to enable individual researchers to participate as members of teams who are designing science and exploration applications for large, general artificial intelligence models known as Foundation Models for the Moon and Mars.
This blog post announces: 1) corrections to the text of C.12 FAIMM, 2) the update of the C.12 FAIMM Q&A document, and 3) the posting of slides and a recording of the C.12 FAIMM informational webinar.
On or about March 10, 2026, the following changes were made to the text of C.12 FAIMM: A paragraph was added to Section 2 on how to indicate interest in one or both target bodies, a couple of small edits were made to Section 2.3, Section 3.1 was corrected to indicate there are two evaluation factors not three, and the total budget for all new awards is ~$1M. New text is in bold and deleted text is struck through.
Thank you for the community interest in FAIMM. There was a webinar on Monday, February 23, 2026, providing an overview of the FAIM opportunity and answering community questions. The presentation slides, updated responses to questions, and a recording from that webinar are now available on the right side of the NSPIRES page for C.12 FAIMM under "Other documents".
Proposals to C.12 FAIMM are due 04/28/2026. No NOI or Step-1 proposal is requested.
