In 1054, people in Japan, China, South Korea, and America noted a sudden appearance of a strange star that stayed visible day and night before eventually fading away. They had witnessed a supernova, the violent explosion of a supergiant star. The Crab Nebula is all that remains of the former star.

Explore the science along with the scenery – Image Tours show Hubble pictures through an astronomer's eyes, pinpointing and explaining key features to add understanding to the joy of cosmic sightseeing.
