Rodent Research Habitat

NASA's Rodent Research Hardware System provided a research platform aboard the ISS that was suitable for long-duration rodent experiments in space. The system had three major components: 

  • The Transporter safely transported rodents from Earth to the space station 
  • The Animal Access Unit transferred the rodents upon arrival from the Transporter into the Habitat unit 
  • The Habitat that provided long-term housing for rodents aboard the station
