Psyche Launch Windows
NASA’s Psyche mission launched on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Launch Complex 39A, Kennedy Space Center in Florida, at 10:19 a.m. EDT on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023. It was scheduled to launch the day before, at 10:16 a.m. EDT, but was delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions. If it had been delayed further, the mission had additional launch opportunities each day through Oct. 25.

Psyche is the first mission to a metal-rich asteroid, which is also named Psyche.
The Psyche spacecraft is expected to arrive at the asteroid to begin science operations in 2029.

If Psyche is not the core of a planetesimal, it may be a type of object that’s never been seen before.
